Problem:
I am attempting to bench read this J518 ELV module off a 2006 Audi A6 with an Autel IM508 xp400pro. I have tried connecting to both modules I have and neither will connect/read. Am I missing something here, or does the xp400pro need a 12vdc supply for bench work?
Solution:
Need to be hooked up to a 12 V supply.
Autel device has all the diagrams. There are two types of wiring diagrams.
Autel shows a resistor is needed as well.

Tools used:
Autel IM508S/IM608 II + XP400 Pro (OTOFIX IM1/IM2)
Original key
Autel JLR ikey smart key (MUST copy Autel ikey)
APB113 adapter
*Autel will copy keys without UWB.
Procedure:
Step 1: Read Original Key Data
Read vehicle information.
Go to Control Unit- Smart Key System (CAN)- Smart Key Copy
Press Start button.
Connect XP400 pro programmer.
Place the working key on the xp400 pro induction coil to detect the key.
Note: If the original vehicle key is not successfully identified, the remote control function will fail.
After the key information is identified, the device will display the wiring diagram.
There are 2 types of wiring diagrams:
Disassemble the original key.
After connecting the wiring harness, click Confirm to continue reading the key data.
Save original key data.
Step 2:
Generate Autel iKey.
Need to generate ikey before copying.
Select a corresponding remote program and generate ikey.
Step 3: Write key data to ikey
Place the generated autel smart into the XP400 induction area.
Write the key data into the Ikey.
Try repeatedly pressing the unlock/lock buttons on the key until the vehicle responds.
Test remote and keyless function.
Problem:
Tried to use Autel MaxiFlash J2534 passthru device with Nissan Consult 3 software. Everything is updated and installed on the laptop. The Autel MaxiFlash software recognizes the j2534 but the Consult 3 software will not connect. Any solution?
Here is the clue.
Autel J2534 doesn’t support API 5.0 driver required for Consult 3.
Older version of consult should work 75-80 API 04 if correct. New Consult3 V241+ requires API 05 device.
Get a Topdon Rlink instead. Topdon Rlink is the way for r2r consult, inexpensive and it works. Rlink is the cheapest option.
Any Rlink BUT the Rlink X3 can use C3P+R2R and C4+ R2R no problem.
Topdon Rlink is officially certified passthru by Nissan.
Cardaq3+ doesn’t seem to be working on new installs, at least with Consult4. Nissan is aware of the issue, this was couple months ago, maybe fixed now. No issues with Rlink.
VXDIAG VCX-SE also works. You don’t need to purchase the software license for Nissan either. Just install the driver using the VXDiag software suite and there ya go.
Problem:
It’s a 2025 Dodge Ram ProMaster. All keys have lost. Autel IM508 with 12+8 cable was able to pull pin code, but it will not erase keys or allow new one to be programmed.
Will it even pull the pin code if RF Hub is locked? Can we do this with Witech if RF Hub is locked?
Here is the clue.
Rfhm locked means the it has the rf hub lockout update. No keys can be added.
RFH locked means the hub is locked to vehicle and that’s always the case. Because it can only be used once and it locks to that car no way to unlock.
It says rfhm locked that means it’s locked to due to update. Rfh locked is the hub being locked to vehicle.
All promasters 25 and up are locked.
Solution:
Need to replace rfh an then use witech to program both.
Rfh is located in headliners.
Install a new hub and keys programmed without any issues.
Even with witech you have to replace RFH to new one.
The RFH new from the dealer was 160$.
Easy to program with witech them you program new keys.
