Can I sell Autel XP400 and Buy X400 Pro?

Question: I have an Autel xp400 programmer. I will purchase an additional xp400pro. Can I sell my xp400? Will it be used on other im608 programmer?

 

Autel chief engineer replied: The used xp400 is not bound with im608 (they are independent), you can buy xp400 pro instead, and then sell xp400. It can be used perfectly with other im608 device.

You can sell yours on eBay for close to cost paid. Help offset the pro cost. But many people choose not to sell it. To be honest, it’s good to keep it as a backup, in case some problems occur and the pro is stop working. If the pro will not work anymore for any reason, you can still finish the job and charge the customer.

If you want the xp400pro you buy the im608pro, they made it very simple. If already have im608. Not necessary to buy im608pro.  If you already have an IM608 (or even a IM508) you can add the XP400Pro to it no worries.

 

Q:  Hi is any chance to virginize Mercedes key with autel im608?

A: This Autel version not have possible, however the new one IM608 Pro will be possible to make an used key in virgin again!

A:   The IM508 does not have the diagnostic functions of the IM608, and it doesn’t come with the J2524 VCI.

Ideally the IM608 is the better tool for doing keys, but you can do a lot with the IM508.

You could do a lot with the IM508 + XP400PRO (Make sure you get the Pro, it’s the latest version so getting a non Pro will mean your getting someone’s old stock!). But you will be able to do more with the IM608PRO.

IM608 is ideal for CAS2 CAS3 CAS3+ CAS4 CAS4+ and FEM/BDC, for EWS, a cheap AK90 could be a better choice.

AUTEL IM608 BMW Review

Autel IM608 Adds 2nd Key for Audi RS7 2014 BCM2

 Test report:

2014 Audi rs7 added second key through obd in around 10 minutes, autel im608 asked me to do energize the BCM and that slowed me down a bit.  Im608 is nice.

It is the smart key with comfort access. It was a used key, but wiped from the company I purchased it from.

Here’s the tips on programming key on this car via OBD. 

 

I unplugged the car battery when asked me to do it, because first time doing it in 7 series and didn’t know where the bcm2 was and that did the trick.

So I didn’t need to unplug BCM2, just unplug battery.

Some people say have to unplug the bcm2 otherwise it will lock the gearbox.  I have ODIS so not too worried.

My friend corrupted bcm2 data oon a Audi Q5 2012. Autel asked him to de-energize bcm2.  He disconnected all plugs and car was dead after that. He needed to read it on bench and send dump to repair guy to fix data. Everything was ok after repairing dflash. Then successfully added 2nd key.

Maybe weak battery or some voltage drop.

I did it in 2 cars so far using im608 without problems, including an A8 D4, but again odis is here to help with component protection if that happens.

How to Solve Autel XP400 Fail to Read Any Transponder?

 Problem:

I receive a new Autel IM608 package. I want to use it for the first time today to read/write a transponder.

It was connected properly to the XP400 key programmer.

But there is a problem with the XP400.

It wouldn’t scan the transponder. I tried several transponders and it would not read any of them.

The version of Autel XP400 is shown as below:

Software: V2.01

Firmware: V2.02

Hardware: V08

The solution offered by obdii365.com engineer:

Step 1: make sure that you have not connected the XP400 programmer to the vehicle OBD connector.

Step 2: Check if you connect the Autel MaxiIM IM608 to the XP400 key programmer via the right USB cable (programmer USB cable)

Please kindly notice:

There are two kinds of USB cables in the IM608 package.

One is VCI USB cable, another one is programmer USB cable. You can identify them via the color.

Step 3: Go to “Programmer” menu to check the programmer function

Step 4: Click “Version information” can see the related hardware and software info.

Step 5: Try with both “Automatic detection” and key type like “HITAG2”

Besides that, you also can visit Autel official website to download PC version programmer V2.61 software.

Path: Create an Autel ID and register-> Select [PC Suite]-> [PC Programmer]-> [Download]-> Install

Notes: The programmer software applies to XP200, XP400 and XP400 Pro.

The software will auto adjust for the programmer.

 

If programmer connection can’t detect any keys both with PC end and tablet.

Please send the logo which describes how the programmer stop work after what operation, and it needs to return to the factory to repair if all methods above have been tried but not working.

Path: Select “Data Manager”-> “Data Logging”-> “History”-> Click “right arrow” to select the corresponding function page to send the log-> Describe what’s the failure-> Click the “send” icon to send the log
