Autel IM608 Program 2021-2024 Toyota Sienna All Keys Lost

 This guide demonstrates how to perform an all-keys-lost procedure on a 2021-2024 Toyota Sienna with the new security system 8A-BA type. Using the Autel IM608 and 30-pin cable, we’ll bypass the factory PIN code requirement and program a new key—including fixing the common remote not working issue after programming.

 

Here we use Xhorse XD8ABAGL Toyota 30 pin cable.

NOTE: Toyota all keys lost function was removed in the US region. But it still works for other regions.

Step-by-Step Procedure

1. Access the Smart Key Box

• Location: Behind the glove box (passenger side).

• Steps:

  1. Remove the glove box trim (three 10mm bolts + clips).

  2. Unbolt and lower the glove box assembly.

  3. Locate the Smart Key Control Unit (black box with wiring harness).

2. Connect the Autel IM608

• Bypass OBD & Use Direct Wiring:

  • Disconnect the factory harness from the Smart Key box.

  • Plug in the Xhorse Toyota 30 pin cable (compatible with Autel):

    • The J3 end → Smart Key box (CAN Low, CAN High, 12V, Ground).

    • Other end → Autel IM608 interface.

3. Backup Immobilizer Data

1. In Autel IM608:

   • Select Toyota > Sienna > Smart Key Control Unit.

   • Choose “Keyless System (CAN)”

   • Choose “Backup EEPROM Data.”

2. Save the backup file (critical for bypassing the PIN code later).

4. Generate a Simulator Key

1. Connect the APB112 Emulator to the Autel.

2. Select “Generate Analog Key” and load the backup file.

3. The emulator will create an emulator key to start the programming process.

5. Program a New Key

1. Reconnect the factory harness to the Smart Key box.

2. In Autel:

   • Go to “Add Key” and use the saved EEPROM file.

   • Ignition ON with the emulator key.

   • Present the new physical key to the ignition button.

3. Issue: The car may start, but the remote won’t work yet.

6. Fix the Remote (Steering Lock Handshake)

• Why It Happens: New Siennas require a security handshake between the steering lock module and ECU.

• Solution:

  1. In Autel:

     • Go to Diagnostics > Toyota > Automatic selection- Decode VIN > Radar Cruise.

     • Navigate to:
       Hot Functions > Immobilizer & Keys > Smart Key > “ECU Communication ID Registration.”

  2. Perform the steering lock/ECU handshake.

  3. Turn ignition OFF/ON and test the remote.

Autel IM508 Adds Toyota Venza 2021 Smart Key with 30-PIN Cable

 How-to: add Toyota Venza 2021 smart key using Autel IM508 and Toyota 30 pin cable.

Device used:

Autel IM508 XP400pro

OBDSTAR Toyota 30 pin cable

Old customer key

New OEM key to be programmed

 

NOTE: The black-white 30-pin cable is from OBDSTAR. But now OBDSTAR update the cable to blue one. The Blue 30-pin cable only works with OBDSTAR devices.

 

Procedure:

Find smart box.

Connect 30-pin cable with smartbox.

In Autel IM508, select Manual selection->Toyota-> Verza HV->Smart Key->Control Unit->Keyless System (CAN)

Automatic decode decode vin failed, so we use manual selection.

Read number of keys.

2 keys programmed

Select Back up immo data.

This requires network connection.

Turn ignition off. Turn on emergency indicators on and off once.

Reading eeprom and save data.

Select Add smart key (Guided)

Read PIN

Learn key

Add smart key successfully.

Autel IM508 Program 2023 Toyota Sienna Key via Obdstar 30 Pin Cable

 It’s a 2023 Toyota Sienna with 30 pin connector. We are going to add a spare key (8A-BA proximity) to this model using Autel IM508 and Obdstar 30 Pin Cable (bypass pin code).

 

This whole 30 pin connector is behind the glove box. There’s that 30 pin OBDstar plugged in line with the the factory plug.

For anyone that doesn’t have the 30-pin cable, it’s really easy. Top 2 left pins are CAN high and CAN low which is pin one and pin two, just use a backprobe and connect to your tools vci CAN Low and CAN High pins plus power and ground and you’re home free. Been doing it this way and takes no longer then using the 30-pin connector.

Here is an example (IM508 and Sienna 2023 no using 30 pin cable.)

After connect 30 pin cable, select vehicle, read and decode VIN.

Then go to Control Unit->Keyless System (CAN)->Backup IMMO Data

Make sure your device is connected to good network connection.

Read then save eeprom.

Select Add smart key function

Perform 2 steps to complete key programming with Autel im508.

Step 1: PIN Verification

Step 2: Key Learning

Turn on ignition switch with a working key.

Enter and confirm VIN

Upload eeprom just saved to read pin code

Read pin finished.

Start key learning.

Put a working key close to Start button

Then put a new key to be programmed to Start button

Learning key completed.

Test both keys.

Done.
