Autel IM508S Failed to Read BMW EWS3 Data Solution

 Problem:

Program key for bmw m3 e46 year 2000 with ews3 immobilizer mask 0D46J using Autel IM508S XP400 Pro. I have ews3 adapter connected on the ews3. But reading with autel using ews3 adapter failed to communicate.

Error: “Communication error of the programmer.”

Solution:

There is not enough voltage of the USB cable on the IM508S.

For EWS3, Autel engineer suggests reading EWS3 data with XP400 Pro PC software on Windows. Then write key with IM508S.

Requires 12V power supply to the XP400 Pro.

How to Repair Autel XP400 Pro if Bricked?

 Your Autel XP400/XP400 Pro programmer will burn if connecting it to obd instead of connecting the J2534 to the obd cable.

 

How to repair XP400 if burned?

Way 1: Send back to your dealer for repair. Usually, it is free under the warranty.

Way 2: DIY repair.

Here is the customer solution. Just for sharing purpose. You are at your risk.  Once it out of the box you can’t get it back in.

One of locksmith friends had this experience which ended pretty good. This is a fix when it has already burned out.

“Pulled the Xp400 apart and found this surface capacitor burnt (47Uf power supply filter). Replaced it with another capacitor from an old broken Ford Falcon ecu and surprisingly its working all well. Just incase someone does it in future, you can fix it yourself.”

The 47uF capacitor is the part that probably fail in that particular case. Causing the magic smoke to escape from the xp400.

You can solder a diode parallel to this Tantalum capacitor to prevent reverse current (short circuit).

The better way is to prevent XP400 from burning.  Don’t connect XP400/XP400 Pro via OBD directly.

Tip is use a good 12v/13v max power supply -not AC/DC switch mode.

Autel IM508 Read Hyundai EON 2012-2019 IMMO Password

 How-to: read Hyundai EON immobilizer pin code (program all keys lost free pin code) with Autel IM608/IM508 with XP400 Pro.

 

We have Hyundai EON Immobilizer box.

We can read Hyundai EON password of blade key from 2012 to 2019.  For blade keys only. For smart key you can read pin code directly, blade key requires pin code from dump.

*NOTE: Never remove your password from immobilizer after giving VIN number to Hyundai. You have to pay from 3rd party to get your password.

This function only supports blade key. As we said, you can read pin code directly from smart key.

See how to connect wiring. If you have xp400 you should use APA105 cable, if have XP400 Pro you can use direct APB108 cable.

EON has 2 types of IMMO Boxes, check 1st wiring, we have to connect it to 4 pins.

another type 2 wiring has the same connections but you have to put a 1ohm resistor.

Here we got type 1 immo box.  No need of any resistor for type 1 connection.

Autel IM608 Program BMW F20 FEM All Keys Lost with Godiag

 User feedback: He successfully programmed a working key (all keys lost) into a BMW 1 Series F20 FEM (M95128) Unit.

Tools used:

Autel IM608 with XP400 and Gbox2
Autel APA103 (Clip for the EEPROM so don’t have to solder it)
GoDiag FEM/BDC Test Platform

And here is a breakdown of method:

Step One – Connect the Gbox2 to the DME on bench and read the ISN Code and make note of it

Step Two – Dismantle the FEM and connect the APA103 Clip to the M95128 EEPROM Chip

Step Three – Go to Immo>BMW>System Select>EEPROM Operation and Read the EEPROM Chip (save the file of course)

Step Four – In the same Menu, modify the saved EEPROM data and re-save the new the file

Step Five – Write the new modified file back to the EEPROM chip

Step Six – Connect the FEM to the Test Platform and connect it to the Autel via OBD

Step Seven – Select IMMO>BMW>System Select>Immobilizer>Immo System Scan

Step Eight – Wait for it to finish loading and then select “Add Key” at the bottom

Step Nine – The Autel will begin “programming” and will take a few minutes to complete

Step Ten – The Autel will prompt to re-attach the APA103 Clip and write the original file (from Step Three) back onto the EEPROM Chip

Step Eleven – Connect the FEM back to the Test Platform and connect the Autel via OBD

Step Twelve – Go to IMMO>BMW>Smart Select and let it load the vehicle details

Step Thirteen – Select Key Learning, then select a free key slot and select Read Password

Step Fourteen – Enter the ISN Code from Step One

Step Fifteen – Place the key in the Test Platform Slot and wait for it to be programmed

Step Sixteen – Hold the key near the Steering Cowl and hold the Start button for 10 seconds

So basically those are the steps I used to complete the job and the key worked perfectly afterwards.

 

 

When you write the modified file to the 95128 EEPROM you are putting the FEM into ‘boot mode’ to patch the processor with the tool and test platform. You need to put the original file back which contains some of the original information back to get the FEM to boot properly again. I’ve not done this job with Autel before and I don’t know if it saves all the relevant security keys(there are more than DME ISN) for programming at a later date. Yes the FEM can be flashed back to a standard version by tools such as BMW dealer tool or Autohex.

How to Test Autel XP400 Pro if It is Not Working?

Here is the Autel XP400 Pro programmer self test guide.

Normal situation

Steps:
1. While in the main menu screen, connect the programmer.
2. Click Programmer to enter (can display the menu normally).
3. Click on Version information (can read version information normally).

Abnormal situation

Steps:
1. While in the main menu screen, connect the programmer.
2. Click on Programmer software to enter (Error reported that the programmer is disconnected but Xp400pro displays green light)
3. Try the Xp400Pro to connect the PC software. And XP400pro should be worked with PC software.

4. If same if done step 1-Step 3, need to contact your dealer for repair.

Autel IM508 BMW EWS3 “Programmer Not Connected” Solution

 Problem:

I need to program EWS3 key with Autel IM508 and XP400 Pro. There is no way to do ews3. I have done everything but it tells me the same thing: programmer not connected (communication error). Any solution?

Solution:

Please do following. (need xp400pro)
1. Enter the BMW EWS3 path of the programmer to try to read and write;
2. Check whether the adapter board pins correspond to the EWS3 slots accurately;
3. Operate in strict accordance with the operating instructions.
4.
Step 1: Connect the matching board and EWS3 module first.
Step 2: Connect the board and XP400 PRO.
Step 3: USB connect XP400 PRO and tablet.
Step 4: Connect the 12V power supply to the XP400 PRO; note that the power of the IM508 must be more than 30%.
Step 5: Open the menu and execute the read function.
Step 6: If the 12V is not connected, and the function is executed directly, the USB port will hang up and cannot be used. In this case.
Step 7. If still do not work with above step. try to connect the xp400pro to PC programmer and do the functions.

please restart the tablet, the USB port is enabled, and communication can be performed normally.

If still do not working with above steps. Try to connect the xp400pro to PC programmer and do the functions.

 It is very easy to clone ME 2.8 ecu instead of going through renew procedure.  It is a cylinder V6 ECU on a Mercedes w203. It runs on E-class it also runs on W163 module model, also the W164 for ML500.

How-to: Cloning ME 2.8, M112 and M113 ECU (c240, e320)with Autel im608 pro

 

Once you know exact IC is, you can read this particular chip down there instead of you going to pull out this chip.

The easiest way to do this is do a connection with the APB103 clip adapter.

Just have to place down and connect with the xp400 pro.

Follow the whole process below.  It is very very easy you just move to your Programmer.

Go to Go to Programmer function->Chip Function-> Chip Read & Write ->EEPROM->ST->ST95XXX-> ST95P08->EEPROM-> Read

search for the ST type of chip that’s the st, then you move down to this to select the xt95

so when you select this then watch it go EEPROM, you can read it now

The easiest way to clone with im608 pro is just to click Write.

We need to write this time.  Now i go to that exact file i saved and that is it.

keep writing successfully and now we need to verify.
